In the last 7 years, the team at HempWell have learnt so much about CBD and Endocannabinoid system and we are delighted to share this with you in the Learn section of website. In 2025 we are also extremely pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Professor Mike Barnes, the UK’s leading authority on CBD, to act as our Scientific Advisor and mentor in all things CBD related.

CBD has seen enormous growth as a supplement in most developed countries as many people are clearly seeing health benefits from using CBD as part of general wellness program. Through our physical retail stores we get to see first hand how CBD is helping our customers in their daily quality of life.

At HempWell we legally sell CBD as a Food Supplement and are regulated by the Food Standard Agency. We make no medical claims about CBD but many of our customers are interested to learn more about CBD, how it works, and what the latest scientific research is telling us about the potential health benefits of CBD.

Professor Mike Barnes

CBD and Medical Cannabis Expert

A recently retired Consulant Neurologist, Mike has been at the forefront of research on CBD and medical cannabis. He is Chief Medical Officer at Drug Science and the Prisedent of the The Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society.

Philip James

Cultivator, Extraction and Manufacturing

A founder of HempWell, Phil has grown over 2 million hemp plants, oversees the CBD extraction from the hemp biomass. He also manages all CBD product production from the companies laboratories at York Science Park.

Dr Fatima Rachid

Cosmetic Scientist

With a Doctorate in Cosmetic Science, Fatima heads up the companies topical CBD product division. She is primarily concerned with research and development, new product formulations and health and saftey.
